Exposure: Semi-shade or full shade

Planting: All zones winter hardy to –20F. Monkshood are a deep blue helmet-shaped flower that can grow to 4’ tall. They need rich soil under trees, at the back of flower beds or even at the edge of a shaded bog garden. Monkshood is an old-fashioned favorite that has been around since medieval times. All parts of the plant are poisonous. They do not do well in warm, dry climates because they should never dry out. Plant 3” deep 10” apart. They go completely dormant in winter.
